![]() If you're planning to take Devastating Critical and are okay with not being able to cast high level cleric spells then you can go for it. In terms of "if it's possible" - it is, till some degree. However if you're a cleric and plan to use "Divine Power" - it all doesn't matter much because that spell gives you the AB of a fighter of the equal level, including full APR (so even if you have 3 APR it will give you 4). So if you care about getting sheet 4 APR you want to have martial classes taken pre-epic. Whatever APR you got pre-epic will stay with you. Does it matter which levels i take first ? Does AB stop growing after lvl20 so its most efficient to take first 20lvls as fighter?ĪB does't stop growing but APR ("attacks per round") do. Besides, I can handle undead with cleric if they are immune to crits.Īs for AB, id take fighter levels anyway. My main worry was if this build is even possible (can one reach prereqs statwise), not if its super efficient. Originally posted by Ragnaman:A lot of things dont matter because i can just "sleep" for 5 seconds and have all my spellbook fresh. Not all of builds there are great, but if you see a discussion with some comments - you can usually derive the quality of a suggested build: (just enter cleric + WM into the desired classes) For epic builds - I recommend you to browse greyhawk build database. This means that if level cap in question is 20, it's unlikely to be effective in the environments where combat is frequent or where there are some limitations on resting. Keep in mind that because your caster level will be low, Divine Power / Improved Invisibility will actually not last all that long. I'm not sure it's worth those earlier feats (though for level cap 20 it well might be) All in all, that's 19 levels till it starts to "work" (which is again, one of the reasons you can't get a working build with Devastating Critical out of it - you need too many more feats)Īlternatively - like you've mentioned, you can take fighter levels to fix that "feat starvation" any build with WM has, however that negatively affects your caster levels even more. And then you only can take WM, you need another 5 levels till increased multiplier and another 2 for better crit. Overall - even if you're a human for this build to start working you need 6 feats for WM -so, at least 12 levels because you get 2 feats at level 1. So you won't be able to get enough WIS to case higher level cleric spells and in that case - you just better build WM without cleric in the first place. You need STR = 25 and a lot of other things to get that meaning that if you go that way - you need to take STR epic feats (in addition to cleave and great cleave which you will have to take as epic feats as well). If you meant "Devastating Critical" as "the crit that kills" - pretty much forget about it if you want to be useful as a cleric. Depending on PW it can be a problem or not. Not that you can improve it because you have to drag all those points into DEX and INT. You want trickery domain in almost all circumstances: improved invisibility is a flat 50% damage reduction, almost nothing beats that It gives you the necessary AB to actually hit things. you need to be able to cast cleric spell level 4). Make Divine Power a staple spell for it (i.e. In high magic? It might really be no longer the case. In low magic the WM is likely a decent choice because of expertise and of course, critical hits. What enemies are you going to be fighting? Golems and undead will give you a headache on any critical hit oriented buildĪnother thing to think about is the PW rules in regards to feats and/or skills and items. If half the enemies are dispelling you, you can kiss goodbye to your AB therefore making you unable to just hit anything. If items with permanent "Haste" are readily available, the travel domain loses the advantage of its main feature ![]() Nothing great, but such a cleric does not need great stats, all he needs is to roll for crit and as many precise strikes per turn in melee. If i understand this right, any time such Cleric would roll 10 or higher he would cause crits and have a chance to kill with one hit ? My goal is to get a fully working Cleric who uses shield and scimitar, is a great addition to party while also dishing out ridiculous amounts of death if he decides to go melee. I wonder if this is even viable ? Obviously I would use Fighter levels too.
